About Us

Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities (MCCQC) is a member congregation of the MCC Churches (UFMCC).  MCCQC was founded in 1980 by a small group of individuals from the Iowa and Illinois Quad Cities. Since then our congregation has grown and we have expanded our mission to include ministries that exemplify our commitment to serving the greater Quad Cities community as a whole.

Our statement is simple:

We, the people of Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities uniquely value

  • The celebration of diversity
  • Serving an open invitation to the Sacrament of Communion
  • The use of inclusive language in worship
  • A commitment to the power of prayer
  • The welcome of all people from diverse faith traditions
  • A dedication to community service
  • Becoming a “user friendly” church
  • A commitment to social justice
  • The open promotion of fellowship

Our facilities are located at 3019 N. Harrison Street in Davenport, Iowa. There is a limited amount of off-street parking available behind the church—enter the parking lot from 30th Street. Additional parking is available on the side streets in the neighborhood.

Our main building houses a 100-seat sanctuary and a fellowship hall on the lower level. Our church offices and education facilities are located in the former church parsonage next door, immediately to the south. This auxiliary building is called “Jim’s House” dedicated to the memory of Jim Moor, a founding and sustaining member of MCCQC, who passed into eternal life in 2005.

________________________________________________________

At this time, our facilities are unfortunately not handicapped friendly due to the stairs required to gain entry to the sanctuary, the fellowship hall and Jim’s House. However, if you should want to visit us and require assistance, please let us know you are coming and we will make arrangements to provide save entry and exit from our facilities.

Our Community Involvement

  • Tithing to the Community

A percentage of the tithes and offerings we receive at MCC of the Quad Cities are awarded annually to a local community organization. Past recipients of the award include Churches United of the Quad Cities and AIDS Project Quad Cities (APQC). The 2006 award is slated for Quad Citians Affirming Diversity (QCAD).

  • Social Justice

MCC of the Quad Cities gives an annual award to an outstanding group or individual in the greater community showing commitment to social justice issues at the local level.

MCC QC also supports LGBT rights through cooperative participation with community groups including APQC, QCAD and Progressive Action for the Common Good (PACG).

  • Feed the Hungry

MCC QC participates in a program rotation that provides a hot meal to the hungry and homeless. Each month, members and friends prepare a meal and transport it to the designated site and serve it to those in need.

  • Ecumenical Participation

MCC QC is a member of Churches United of the Quad Cities, an organization whose mission is to increase the expression of unity among Christian churches and empower them for service through Cooperative Ministry, Witness, Advocacy, Celebration in Worship, and Growth through study and dialogue - all of which express and honor the diversities among and within our communities.

In addition, we respect the rights of all persons to worship God through the many different faiths and paths that are in the diverse spiritual world.
